Anyone here own a work at home online business?

I have a cupcake shop.

That is true getting customers is the hardest part of an online business and once you get the customer the trick is keeping them

Also, I noticed that somehow visitors do not know what site they actually browsing. Especially if they come via search engines or links from other sites.

Maybe it's important make them to remember the site name (and address )

There are only a few sites which names visitors actually know. All others are either bookmarked or found on search engines.

I've recently set up an online shabby chic gift shop (The Shabby Chick Boutique), wow it's been a learning curve being a complete technophobe.  Having limited funds I've built my own website, I had no idea the amount of continued work it would take but I do feel quite proud of my efforts.  It's still early days and I need to drive a lot more customers to my site, but I'm supporting this by selling on Ebay and party plan.  I still work my day job, but one day I would love to be able to give that up on concentrate on this.  Any tips and hints on how to get customers to my site gratefully recieved.

just post a lot of pictures and advertising with facebook helps.

Thank you Ms Cupcakes.  I have got a shop on Facebook, but I will look at adverstising with them as well, it would certainly reach a lot of people and I'm trying to get as many links as I can through local directories, Twitter etc.  I guess it takes time to get higher up in Google listings.  I will keep plugging away.
